Waterstones

An evening with social historian and TV presenter Ruth Goodman

Thursday, 5th April from 6 pm to 8 pm
Waterstones, Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes

Ruth’s latest book How To Behave Badly In Renaissance Britain offers up an entertaining history of offensive language, insulting gestures, insolent behaviours and scandal in the sixteenth and seventeenth-centuries – with practical tips on how to horrify the neighbours. She explores how bad behaviour can be more illuminating than the world of the respectable, law-abiding citizen. Their anti-social and irritating ways not only tell us about what upset people, but also how their society functioned and what kind of world they lived in.

Tickets for this event are £3 and are available online, in store or by calling 01908 395384.
