The Archive
The Society's archive is made up of historical and contemporary collections and aims to record and preserve the heritage of the area for the future. Material loaned to us is often digitised and returned, but the Society has a large collection of donated material - photographs, documents and artefacts. Please browse items from our collection which we will aim to update on a regular basis.
The old Parish of Passenham included Deanshanger, Old Stratford and Puxley. Remarkably Deanshanger had, from 1801 to the late 1960s, a canal that ran through the heart of the village, this led to the development of a world renowned iron foundry which later became the site of an international oxide works. More recently this rural South Northamptonshire village, located on the border of Milton Keynes, has expanded as a consequence of the closure of the oxide works and the growth of the new 'city'.
