Puxley

Puxley

In the 14th century Puxley had been a settlement of considerable size with three large houses. A charter of 1384 reveals that open-field agriculture was practiced. However the c1608 Forest Map depicts Puxley as predominantly woodland, later records list timber at Puxley being cut down for royal building projects and as gifts to local parish churches and religious houses. As a consequence the land was cleared and subsequently used as farmland.
