E&H Roberts – Ironworks
Tracing its origins back to a blacksmith forge in 1820 that was owned by Richard Roberts a blacksmith from Wicken, the smithy site was developed into an Iron Foundry from 1843 by his son John. John's sons Edwin and Henry expanded the business to become E & H Roberts Ltd a world-wide exporter of Deanshanger manufactured agricultural implements, including the medal winning Mephisto plough and famous Hercules wind-powered water pump, among many other every-day metal work items. Many of the Foundry's products such as fences, gates, window frames etc can still be seen around the village and local area.
